Mobile Phone use in the US is EXPENSIVE. Don't pay the rip off charges over there, get a MAXROAM sim before you go and get a US and Irish number in one. Call home for the price of a local call from your mobile!

For all those who have already been, what do you think is the best bank to go with? What banks would you recommend not going with?

I'd like to get one with some decent internet banking and a lot of ATM availability.
Any info would be very much appreciated.

i'd go with who ever your employer is - that way your pay cheques clear far faster - also theres no hard an fast rule as to which aanks are better, depends on where you are in the country -its a big place!

THats true I guess, and your right, it's probably a good idea to go with whoever my employer is with, but I want to get an account opened as soon as I get there and I don't have a job sorted yet.

Commerce Bank are pretty good if you're on the east coast. Avoid Chase if you can.
