   Hi folks,
   
   I need advice quickly please.
   
   In NY (or the US in general) How legally liable can we be if we enter a 12 month lease and leave after 3 months with notice to the landlord?
   
   Do we just lose the deposit or can we be sued? Any know anything about this sort of thing?
   
   Please Please please help, We need to know soon or we'll be back across the Atlantic by next week :(

   dont sign a 12 month lease, or 6 month. your liable and prob will have bother. if you have to and i mean really have to sign 6 month max but give the landlord 30 days notice before your departure, make up some cock and bull story that you have to go home for some serious reason.
   You could chance it but make sure that the landlord cant trace you. :)
