Well myself and my group of mates are heading on the j1 again this year and are thinking about a change of scenery but not too sure cause last year-summer 2010 we had such a buzzin time in OC maryland and are all guarunteed jobs if we go back...Just if any1 knows about stuff like jobs/accomadation/the craic(most important thing on j1) in these spots will ya send on a bit of info to this. Also last year we met up with people on this to plan our j1 and ended up living with the other 2 groups of 4 in a 14person house and became best of mates with them all through our alcoholism/lazyness to turn up for work and all of them being the soundest people ya could meet and we would'nt mind doing that again this year albeit with our favourite drink four loko being banned by the us gov last week the level of drunkiness of j1'rs will have calmed a bit as this stuff was rocket fuel!!!and also if you'v any q's on ocean city don't hesitate in asking me and i'l get back to ya...
Hey..group of us girls headin' out too but not a clue where to go..Ocean City is on the list though..I hear it's really easy to get a job? What's it like in general..ye had a class summer yea? :) We've been lookin' at Huntington beach in CA aswell..looks unbelievable but way harder to get work! :P I hear great things about Chicago New York and Boston Id say ye'd fit in anywhere!!
So a group of us are thinking of heading out to Ocean city this summer, we all love the idea of beach and boardwalk, biut as we're all going to be 21 we want to be guaranteed good clubs to go to, take advantage of the auld legality of it all!!!! Is ocean city good for clubs and nightlife...I've heard it's very small but haven't heard a whole lot else?! Also are the jobs there easily got?!?! :-)
NiMhaonaigh..i I can not recommend ocean city enough if your going out looking for a job your nearly gaurunteed1-1 of my housemates walked 8streets on the boardwalk when he got their and got offered 4 jobs-they love us Irish cause it's full of russians,nepal people and eastern europeans...It was the best summer of my life without a doubt-i had to go home earky for repeats with3others in our house and the morning we left the house was like a morgue throwingg a huge party with the depression+tears mixed drunkeness...ask lukej about huntington...to be honest i really want to do the whole beach thing again so not really thinking of citys...also if you want to see some photos and videos of it write back here and i'l give ya a link to my gfacebook.. Jewels101-this is the story with partys-there's about 200 irish in oc- we threw the best house partys(make sure to invite american+russian women they adore us irish lads) get a good sound system the 1st day you arrive for your ipods-spend $100 on uv lighting and caution tape and throw these house partys-it's expensive to drink out...anyway here's the story with clubs+pubs Monday-sunday=constant drinking in house...Tuesday night:Pickles Pub 7th street loads of irish go draughts arwe all $2 so that explains itself Mug and Mallet 2nd street:Thursday night 10-1 $1draughts+a serious bar man kyle can make any shot Sunday:The angler dorchester -1/2 street absolute shitfest we caused loads of trouble in here 1 sunday night police on horseback arrived+all...The clubs are party block and seacrets( 1which is the 4th biggest club on the west coast of usa)and 2 others think fish tails and can't remember the other...there expensive but according to the lads that went and barely came back(1the lads went missing)it's wel worth it...also we take out boats regularly enough groups of us and go on these booze cruises on the lake-which are unreal craic...don't worry if your not 21 either you can get these fake irish driving licences that say your 21 and do the job...any other questions??
there bout 3 or 4 of us thinkin headin to ocean city it just sounds so good but it seems a lot more popular this yr i wonder if tat be a issue for jobs ??
Hey I've heard good things about Cape Cod so a group of about 4 or 5 of us are planning on heading there... Does anybody know what it's like for jobs, if they're easy to come by or not? Or know anything about accommodation... that would be great!! We haven't booked with any company yet but maybe ye could tell me who ye booked with last year and if ye found them good and cheaper than the other companies etc. Cheers!
J1corkgirs i was chatting to some my mates that went to cape cod last year and said it was good but that some had to go home/try cities cause could'nt find jobs... abc10 it's not too hot like in may and early june and gets hot in july and august but you'll be able for it like it's perfect beach weather- this is 1thing that is very important make sure you get gaf/humble abode with a good air conditioner that's not likely to break as it's a life saver compared to what i had last summer...also beware some air con's are shit(excuse my language)...Trish1 -ya it seems like it's going to be alot more popular alright this year than last as san diego seems not to be anybodys plans this year...I have decided this year that i'm heading back to OC again so I WILL BE ABLE TO SET PEOPLE UP WITH JOBS.... my names Paul Curley and I'm from Galway go to NUIG, if anybody wants to find out more about Ocean City don't hesitate in contacting me at anytime except at night or morning about any questions or queries...My number is 0861626062-meteor (if i miss your call send me a text and i'll contact you back) or email me at paulwcurley@gmail.com Hope this helps

Hey everyone, really liking the sound of Ocean city !!!! :) Was on a j1 last year to New york, absol amazing. Worked in a country club as a busser it was great but hard work looking for a more relaxed job this year with more craic and a beach very close by. Is it easy to find jobs and accommodation in OC???
Hi... For all of you thinking of Myrtle Beach Summer 2012.. I am currently looking into the possibility of opening a 100% Irish dedicated budget accommodation centre for J-1 Students. I have had first hand exp in the late 90,s as a student. I also witnessed the same difficulties Irish students have, during a spell in Myrtle Beach last summer. Deposits not being returned, Horrendous conditions, high rent and landlords who take advantage. This often puts a bad taste on the place for students when they leave.
