Hi ömer and welcome to the forum.
Where are you from? Do you have a local travel agency that can be your sponsor and get you set up? Are you in University?
Your best bet for finding a job is actually, in my experience, waiting until you get over there.

Give us some more details and maybe we can help you out a bit more.

Hi, I am hoping to head over to New York at the end of June until early September. I think I just missed out on applying for a J1 as it is sort of a last minute decision. I have been on a J1 before and I have a social security number. I hear that it is still possible to get some work with your social security number alone, and that some employers don't ask for your J1. Can anybody shed any light on this? Also, I don't actually have record of my social security number as I lost the page it was written on, but as far as I know I can apply for it in a social security office in the US while I am on a 90 day holiday visa. I went to Chicago last summer without a J1 on a 90 holiday waiver and my friends had J1's and got invalid drivers licences for ID's for the summer for the gov office.. As far as I can remember, I could have gotten one too as I had a social security number on record if I went in to the office.
Does anybody know anything about this, and if I go back to the states, could I get access to my social security number?
