Hi there.. Just wondering who is thinkin on goin to cape cod for the summer.. this is my third time doin the j1.! Have plenty of info on hyannis for jobs and houses.. Just sorting a house at the moment and if anyone mite be interested in a house, let me know.. Its an unreal place for the j1 and I dont know anyone yet that didnt get a job there for the summer and they had the best summer of there life!!!
@ dan29, 9 of us girls are more then likely heading to hyannis, wats the place lik and not all of us are 21 are they very strict over der wit i.d's? any other info on jobs and houses would be muc appreciated, thanks.
Hi Dan29, I'm a 25 y/o guy going over there for the summer, possibly longer. Haven't checked out accomodation yet so thought I'd check here. Any luck with a place or are you still looking for housemates? Send me an e-mail if you're stuck!
Hi Dan29, Me and a few mates( some might pull out andothere join in) plan on goin over and we heard cape cod was amazing. What kind of price are you lookin at for the accomidation around there? is it easy enough to get cheap living there? and are jobs really that easy to get?
@dan29,Hey there is a big crowd of us heading out 2 cape cod have looked into jobs but nothing sorted yet, do ya think we'd be safe enough to wait till we get there? headin out end of may? No accommodation sorted yet either and everything we've looked at seems so expensive... how did ye find yer place?
Corkgirls, I believe most J1s get their accom. and jobs after arrival. Many move around during their sojourn. Also, I recommend you click 'search' above and read my Cape Cod for Dummies. Ádh mor.
@Cork Girls, we're a group of Meath girls heading over at the end of May too.. we were recommended to try and have acc sorted before going over though, but jobs you shuld get within a few days of being there!
In relation to id, most places are fairly strict but there is an Irish pub that isn't to bad for id.. there is a nightclub there called pufferbellies and it lets you in if ur 18.. it has an irish nite 2 on wednsday and it be's absolutely packed with irish.. not many of the irish go actual pub drinkn.. its at house partys or usual there wil be a beach party organised for after the club aswel.. its be's unreal!!
Jobs are pretty easy found, you are guarnteed a job if you go look for it.. some people walk strait into a job but sometimes u have to wait abt 2 weeks from start of june until the season real gets goin before you get started but jobs are everywhere. its reli hard to find any on the internet because they dont post short-term seasonal jobs. they just wait until we arrive. Experince in the certain field is a great help. But jobs are usual got on arrival.
Accomadation always work out to, sometimes it helps to get an offer on a motel for the first to weeks and try an secure a rental when you arrive. your only hope if it is really exspensive is to offer them a special rate for the summer. Remember that most of the rentals there are on a weekly to weekly basis and they ge thuge profit from this so it can be challenging!! You can expect to pay from $12,000 dollars minimum for a 3 bedroom house if not at least $16,000 that would sleep about 10 people. That is the going rate.
If anyone is interested in sharing a house email me: dobsemail@hotmail.com
3 more lads here heading to hyannis, arriving 25th may would be interested in some form of house sharing to keep costs dwn! Any1 think it will be harder to get jobs this yr as opposed to previous years??
Group of eight girls and guys going to Hyannis in June. Interested in sharing also. Does anyone have a rough estimate of how many to a house? :) Email : e.donlan1@nuigalway.ie
Yeah group of 6 donegal lads heading out to hyannis for the summer looking to share with anyone if they are interested.
@galwaygang, was out in hyannis for a holiday last year visiting ones that stayed the summer, they rented a 9 bed room detached house and there was actually 19 of them stayin in it, rent was $1500/w tho so they need it, was serious crac apparently!
Most J1s tend to be around Sea St., Ocean St and Main St. I would avoid Bearses Way area. I have lived in Hyannis for more than 40 years. I have made suggestions for temp. lodging on this site - Cape Cod for Dummies. If anyone is desperate I can take 2 or 3 Irish J1s for a few days. I live on School St., easy walk from bus station/Main St/Harbor, etc. My phone is 508-778-5592 or email glandore3@verizon.net.
Is it really that easy to find a job in the cape cod region?literally just walk in to a place and the Job is yours kinda thing?Im thinkin of heading there at the end of May.Will this be the best time to find a Job just before the summer season?or anywhere else in the US be easy?
Hey small group of us headin over (3 lads and 1 girl). just wondering if anybody is having as much trouble as I am looking for accomadation that dosent cost the price of a drink in cafe en seine? Anybody up for potentially house sharing?

3 lads (tipp, cork and kerry) looking to share accommodation. We have nothing sorted yet. Up for all the craic. contact if you need to fill space in your accommodation to keep costs down. Arriving 5th june. Facebook------http://www.facebook.com/roryon email------- oneillrory1@hotmail.com
i was in hyannis last summer, unreal place!! we got a job in the 2nd place we tried but we were pretty lucky, a lot of places don't start taking on people 'til the middle of june when season gets busy... impossible to find a job online, just walk around to places once u get there! and don't bother with c.v's, everywhere has application forms. accommodation is impossible to get before going over too, most people lived on Sea Street or Pleasant Street and again you just have to go walk around and ask for places to stay. pufferbellies is closed down by the way, that was the main night club over there and you didn't need to be 21. tommy doyles is the irish pub, kinda strict on id but most of the people workin there end up being irish so it'll be grand! mostly house parties and beach parties anyways... best summer!
Hi, anyone going to Hyannis, Cape Cod? Im going on 2nd June and Im looking for people to share accommodation with.http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000057439330

Pufferbellies this will be ur meca! every wednesday nyt is Irish nyt (at least it was last year) , thursda russian nyt, friday hip hop/ shoot out nyt. Its located beside hyannis bus station. actual building is **** but serious crac! if ur under 21 they mark 2 big x's on ur hands on da way in so u can't buy drink at bar therefore get hammered before going. note the DJ idea of Irish pop music is aslan, westlife and blizzards but da shyt music is half the fun.
Package store: main offie / "lick-ur" store they got bulmers/magners CVS (pharmacy/"grocery" store)= rubbers and junk food (note theres a curfew from 1 to 2 am jus means all premises/stores hav to close from 1 to 2. you'll be still trying to navigate ur way from pufferbellies car park from 1 to 2 so don't worry bout it.)
McGees Icecream: really gud deli an icecream also got internet Kian and Rylees: there burgers an chips/fries are class BBC (british beer company) good dinners perrys its a breakfast bar its really nice food open 7am to 3pm perry's coffee is remedy for puffers hangover (boston medical journal 1901)
finally a few general tips Police aren't like garda they have a bigger grudge against humanity. u can't talk **** to them like ya would gardas at home. + they got guns mo fo!
get a bike as soon as u get there its da easiest way gettin around. ya can buy a new one in Kmart for $90 or myt get 2nd hand for $50
also get SSN asap coz alotta places won't even listen to ya if u aint got it.
check classifieds in cape cod times every day for jobs
I put 'Cape Cod for Dummies' on this forum. Check 'search' above to find it. Would someone tell me if this was of any help? Also, if 2 or 3 J1s are desperate; they can stay at my apart. on School St. in Hyannis for a few days. Bill Hurley, glandore3@verizon.net
