Well folks, i'd say ur best bets are to book a hostel for the first few days then then look for accomodation. Owners are sceptical about students renting their houses because of previous experiences, they like to see people face to face and judge their character. a lot of you seem very willing to share houses with complete strangers, i wouldnt advise this at all, there are many obvious difficulties which you could experience.
Jobs are plentiful in Hyannis, restauraunts, pubs, shops in malls need extra staff for the summer months. Other jobs include car parking, gardening etc.. A word of warning, when going through security at the airport on both sides, make sure and have your story stright. i.e. we're staying in a hostel for the first few days, I would like a job which is related to my course.. Don't say 'anything at all', or they would imtimidate you!
Nightlife is AMAZING, you have to mingle in the pubs and find out where the best house parties/beach parties are. Be wary of drinking in public though!
