J1 Froum: Apply for a J1, not using Sayit or USit?
this year u can do a 'commando' j1 with either sayit or go for less (im not sure which one) where u just get the j1 off them and u sort out ur insurence and flights urself if u hav done the j1 befor an kno wat to expect wen u get over there then its def worth doin u can get flights and insurence urself for around 500-600 quid on aerlingus if u book early, an the j1 itself wil only cost u 275euro saving a couple of hundred euro any way last summer me an my sis did this an we got flights to LA that cost only 550 return with aerlingus and saved a load of money u can get a j1 through the american embassy directly as far as i kno but its a lot less hassle if u go with sayit or usit if u ask me
GO4LESS.IE also do j1's although most people seem to go with USIT or SAYIT...most well known I suppose. today is the last day of the free programme fee with USIT...whatever u decide, have a great summer!
Hey there, Quick answer is no you cant. Wouldnt it be lovely if you could just get the forms from the emabssy fill em out and get a visa? Unfortunately... there is so much more to the visa process than just that... U basically need to get another form called a DS 2019 from a company in the states which, when accompanied with the visa sticker in your passport, makes you legal to work in America. Only companies like GO4LESS, Sayit or Usit can apply for these DS2019 forms. They cannot be issued to individuls. The only way to get a J1 visa without using Sayit. GO4LESS or Usit is by gettin an american company to sponsor you. Then they would fill out all the paper work over there. This is pretty hard.
Im not working for Sayit anymore... so Im not taking the piss outa you.. Or trying to make you get a J1 for the companies profit!!!! Hope you have a geat summer wherever you go
Not sure about Southern Ireland, but in northern, you can apply through all the british companies, such as CCUSA, BUNAC, GAP.COM....there are hundreds of sponcers available, and they all qoute different program prices and features. I went with CCUSA, it was hte cheapest, only being £275 for the independant option. You can book your own flights. BUNAC also offers this option. I remember doing a google for J1 visa, and hundreds of options apeared.
