I stayed in cape cod for 6 months on an internship it was amazing !!....defintely have to research before u go as it is a seasonal location and things dont get busy till mid june!...there are plenty of things to do but if u were to stay in cape a car is a must!!! we travelled on bikes the first 2 months then we all chipped in and bought two cars. we stayed in brewster as we worked in ocean edge resort ( savage place u have to check it out if u go:) !!) the main area to stay would eb hyannis for J1 students but brester was a great place to stay in we were able to go everywhere taxi's are really cheap to and theres great locations the bars and clubs were amazing, check out traider ed's, beachcomber, lost dog, the woodshed and irish bar !!...its pricey in cape cod!!...i would look into seeing if u could get work in Ocean edge where i worked or chatham bars they are the ony top two resorts on cape!! ....also if u go provincetown cannot be missed even if u go once u wont regret it !...only an hour on the coach away from boston city ( where we went all the time for red sox games shopping etc) its four hours away from new york ( travelling on the coach up there wasnt bad either)...honestly cape cod was the best experiance of my life !!!...get looking for accomodation quick as its known for being the busy for the entire summer and every1 comes down for the city!!....surfing and water sports are amazing down there so u could easily get a job doing that if interested. working in bars i would check the lost dog theres three located in cape cod the one in orleans is the best ( that was our second home) also the woodshed ( owned by the same people) constantly packed ans i herd great tips !! ...there is so much i could tell u but i hope that helps and if u research a good bit and plan out ur summer u will not regret it !! :) any more info on hyannis or jobs etc just let me know be happy to help !!

Three lads from Cork, heading to Hyannis for the summer end of may-mid august. We're looking for people to share with. Anybody got good websites etc. to look for houses on?
Message me on facebook, if your looking for people to share with.
Last summer i set off for hyannis and could not find accomodation in the first week and was beggining to get rather worried. however i met an absolute crazy lady on the street looking to lease accomodation in the old irish village in west yarmouth (10 minutes max by bike to hyannis town centre). Meeting this lady resulted in the best summer of my entire life. We made the old irish village our own a ghetto in its own right. 50 odd irish lads and girls just had the complete criac every single night. We didnt even need to go out we made our own fun there and when we did go out we it was epic. Bassically the old irish village has internet access up by the office its 90 dollars a week for the room sharing and do try to go for the block on the right when you walk in (they have televisions and air con) There is a football pitch and a tennis courts at the back so bring a few balls. Across the road is Lukes liquors where u can get all the vital supplies for a good summer and your also not far from stop and shop (really big tesco) where there is also a great gym and crazy golf. the beaches are all close by as is the park where soccer pitches tennis courts and basketball courts are fairly empty year round. the fresh water pond there is also a little gem for the cool down. First impressions may be sore on the eyes but it really is a terrific base for the summer. Look for debbie or a contact number in the new irish village which is in south yarmouth (still main street about a kilometre from the old irish village) She is utterly bats but just humor it for the first week and you have her eating shit from your hand, Her husband ray will probably be looking after the place this year and he is real sound but a little odd. DO NOT GO NEAR THE DAUGHTER. Gardeners, window cleaners etc.. often come down here in late june looking for workers, everybody last year got a job this way. and if your really stuck head down to the sons of erin and you will be sorted with a job not by the pub but by one of the lads drinking there.
The Cape Cod Irish Village web site is www.capecod-irishvillage.com, phone 508-771-0100. Also in the search engine above Cape Cod for Dummies has more suggestions.

I don't know whether to head to Boston (as in Allston) or Hyannis.. theres 4 of us heading over and while we wanna live with Irish we don't want to feel as if we have moved over to another Ireland, we want to make lots of American friends too. Which place is better for that?!
Also here is the J1 Boston page on facebook for 2012 http://www.facebook.com/groups/397869663557965/
Hey, big gang o us headin over on the 25th o May to the cape.. thinkin about hyannis?... Anyone hear anythin on jobs/accomodation or anything as of yet?

We are three lads heading to Hyannis at the end of may and have nothing sorted, in need of a bit of help from a generous hand, willing to share accommodation to reduce cost and would love some info on jobs and where to go for de best craic, this is first time and want it to be memorable for all the right reasons,
ccollins20..theres three of us girls heading over hyannis 2nd june..also looking for people to share with to bring prices down..have started looking at houses aswell but have nothing sorted..where abouts have ye been looking?? we were thinking sea street as have heard its the best spot to live..
Hey heading to Hyannis May 29th.. If anyone has accomodation sorted could they get in touch.. Just me travelling so would love to get in with a few and share accomodation...
Yeh we were lookin at sea street too, I know people who lived there last year and said it was great craic! We've been lookin up places, but got advice not to pre book anything until we've actually seen the place, because we could be ripped off! Hostels are meant to be cheap enough for the first week until ya find your feet and accommodation etc! And jobs are meant to be grand, it gets really busy there during the summer so theres no shortage of work! It's our first time heading over too so it's good to get any bit of advice before heading over! :)
Sea Street is the best and most popular with J1 students. 2 mins from the beach and the main street. It hasn't got a great reputation but is safe enough as long as people look after themselves. I think some hostel does a $40 a night deal for J1 students at the start and you would fit loads into the room. Roll on the summer :)
yeah we were told the same better off waiting til were out there just in case..yeah and think the hyannis travel inn does good rates for j1ers aswell..were thinking of stayin there for the first few nights when we head over.. it will probably take about a week to get everything sorted but after that im sure everything will work out to be a great summer..hopefully..:-D have ye been applying for much jobs???
Hay big crowd of us heading over the end of May... Can't wait for this summer to begin :P take it as it comes whoop! I'd say wait and get accommodation when were out there otherwise who knows where we'll end up :) No luck on jobs however, has anyone managed to get one?
fffirfu, so you would really recommend that place then?? Plenty of other j1ers and everything ya? That sounds unreal craic, and 90 dollars seems way cheaper than all the houses I've been looking at!! Is there an email, or do I just phone?? Could we even wait til we get over there??
Also, you say 10 mins by bike, ye didn't feel ye missed out or anything by not being in the Hyannis town no???
Well lads! Four of us heading over at the very start of June (3 girls and 1 boy) looking to share accomodation if anyones interested. Were thinkg Sea st in Hyannis! Give us a shout if yer interested!Sound! gearoidsheehy@hotmail.com
my boyfriend and I are heading over the end of june. since we are headng so late because of college commitments we are wondering would it be best to book into a hostel for a few days and look for somewhere or try get accomidation sorted beforehand? also will it be very difficult getting a job at such a late stage?
annalousie001...thats exactly what were planning on doing..the more the better!
All my group will be 21 but il be 20, have a fake drivers licence and aparently that will get you into the nightclub over there called puffer bellies( or something like that?)..but sure if weve that amount in the house we can throw house parties the whole time and twil be just as good!
When are ye flying out? Were well up for it anyways if ye are, gives us a shout on the email if ye are!
Hey lads! I've a contact that I'm getting onto tonight for accommodation, once I hear back I'll fill ye in. annalouise001 and ghayes91 what's yer story? I'm going with Gearoid :) This is exciting stuff!
