Ye another student from DCU here goin next summer with another lad and maybe a few more...thinking of ocean city, looks unreal but is it busy enough with j1 students to make a great summer out of it?
Hey, were a group of 5 girls from all over the country heading to OC from the 27th of May until late Aug, Were going with USIT costing us about 1000 return flights to go. Were just looking to share accommodation, with 5 girls it would be handy living with lads and other girls to break it up. Population in OC off season is around 7,000 and during the summer it can be around 300,000. So i'd say jobs are a cert :) You can get accomodation to house up to 16 people 2 blocks from the board walk within walking distance, hope that helps :)

Well! Me and a couple of my friends, UCD and UL students and one Marydry 20-21 years old, are thinking of going Ocean City in May. Just wondering does anyone know any information about the j1 experience in OC, either from researching it or hearing from someone who was there before on a j1. Details on employment, accommodation, night life and general information would be useful!

A friend of mine who's going to OC aswell told me that last week when her friend was going for her US embassy interview they told her that anyone who's going to OC needs to have a backup plan cos there's gonna be so many people going there this year.....7 of us are supposed to be heading there but we're not sure now cos of that incase we can't get jobs/accomodation.....anyone else hear anything like that or were they just over exaggerating??

Yeah its very risky, we went over at the end of may last year, had to stay in a hostel for 3 weeks til we found somewhere halg suitable, it all cost a small fortune. would definitely recommend getting a place before ye head out nd before all the best places are gone. Only regret I hav, rest of the summer was class and easy enuf to get a job.
