Hey 8 of us (girls) heading over in June, just wondering how are people going about finding accommodation? none of us really care what it is like just as long it has a roof ! thinking of wrigleyville heard its the best place?
what we were told was to stay in a hostel for the the first week or so, and go around the neighbourhood looking for houses/apartments to rent. its apparently much easier to organize accommodation when you get over there. Wrigleyville seems to be the main place for j1'ers to live in.
we havent really looked at anything for jobs yet... say we will get some sort of a cv ready and just email it to a few places... but that email we got off the usit yesterday said you had to be in contact with at least 2 employers before you go over.. so maybe a few phone calls here and there... but cant see many of us having jobs before we go over, say we will just look on the first week and settle for anything really!
J1jobs.com looks goods, a lot of places seem to have accommodation attached as part of the job! I have been mailing a few places and luckily have a Skype interview for a place on lake Erie. fingers crossed!
Just booked Chicago with two friends (3 girls all 21/22) and we're hoping to share accommadation with a few others! Hey, two us of 21 year old girls headin over end of May, planning on staying in a hostel for 2 or 3 nights meet people and get a house together!
