Hey! wondering where to go for summer 2012 in cali? have the flights booked to LA and we want to go to a beach place with good nightlife (all over 21) and also need a job because dont plan on coming back to Ireland till oct! thinking Huntington, san D, or Hermosa? anyone know anything bout these? also looking to accom share - unreal banter! Went on a J1 two summers ago to OC MD and accom sharing def the way to go!
My friend was there last year and he said it was amazing and it's alright for gettin jobs...apparently nowere is realy easy go get jobs but once u try enough u shud get one! It's in between all the good parts of cali so when ur in HB you can go visit all the other places irish will be (san diego, san fran) but not be surrounded by them the whole summer! Theres 5 of us and were booking the flights on Monday and were thinking like the 3rd of june? What about you? Thinking of staying till mid sept but my friends r back in colege early but i might just stay on anyway!!!
Wow that does sound unreal! were def gonna go travelling, wanna hit up san fran vegas etc! we booked ours, were flying to LA 24th of may! decided to get out soon as poss to get a good apartment and stuff. theres three of us, yeah one of us will be going back for college but other two staying on till oct cause were in final year. have you looked into apartments? prob best to get one when you get out there i was thinking? Were def looking to apartment share, keep costs down and have a serious amount of sessions!
Yeah same here, gotta do Vegas etc! That's pretty early, you're lucky! Ive exams till the 30th tho :( Yeah Im in final year too, but the rest arent! No we haven't looked into apartments yet but my friends giving me the details of where they lived last yr...he sed their complez had lik a pool, jazucci, bbq pit and gym!!! thatd b nice :) Yeah well defo have to share cos theres not enough of us in5 really! Work is hard to come by in san diego, and if you do decide to go there, you might wanna get your social security number in LA before you leave, takes about 12-14 weeks in san diego, about 2-4 in LA.
Me and 5 friends are thinking of going to HB on the 23rd.Hoping to get into accom hunt early and get our resumes into places early since legally you cant work till the 1st but it cant hurt to secure your job...if everything is perfect well hopefully have accom and a job before the bulk of j1ers come over.Any Idea how long it takes to get a SSN in HB??
Were decided definitely on huntington beach so we will be looking to share accom (sineadsk, Kt.xxxx and Gantobury).Not sure on how long it takes to get ssn, have a few friends who went before so ill ask them! Hey oisinkenny yeah they said that is ok, that obv you have to try but they got jobs easy enough! its ment to be easier than other places not sure about san fran thou. i know the rent is san fran is really high thou so keep that in mind!
