I was in Myrtle Beach last year it was absolutely class, total redneck place though. if ur goin make sure to stay in Rainbow Court if its booked up they always keep some extra appartments for when people get there or else advertise n c if anyone is looking for someone to share, its a bit of a dump but its totally mental.one thing advice watch the cleaners they rob everything.also rainbow c is a total ghetto area people get mugged, shot etc not wanting to put u off cos ul b grand as long as u dnt be walkin outside after dark at nite Jobs u will get no bother i worked in Johnny Rockets 1950s style restaurant war uv 2 dance really good fun but this summer was quiet with tourists so tips were bad if u didnt get good tables. ul get jobs in the mall, at Broadway at the beach(outdoor shopping complex) or along the boulevard in tacky shops, restaurants icecream parlours etc or at the water parks if ur desperate. Nite life really good all Irish go drinkin in rainbow court then 2 Kriptonite n Malibu clubs n the bars u21 no prob u get in everywhere underage u just get a stamp but they take photocopys of passports so we just changed ours n u get in everywhere id def reccomend myrtle beach ul av a mental summer. id love 2 go bk but goin to santa barbara this year. hope i was a help:D

Just bumping this. 2012 Myrtle Beach anyone?

Couple of questions for those who went before. Is it flooded with Irish? We would like to meet some irish over there (probably staying in rainbow court) but we don't want it to be totally packed with Irish everytime we go out... no much point going to America and not meeting the locals but just your fellow countrymen and women.

Also tickets to myrtle beach airport look expensive... is there any other cheaper ways of getting there such as arriving in Atlanta? On the usit website it states a free stopover. Does anyone know what that means?

    Thanks.

would recommend mb to the last went there last summer, but ya its all irish, we didn't have much to do with americans, there was about 100 irish ppl stayin at the motel so we rele spent all our time together!! i went with usit, they flew us to london then to washington and from there we had to get our own way to myrtle, flite frm washington to myrtle beach was bout 70 dollars... didnt rele like usit to be honest, think they flew us round the place and charged a bomb..

Hi... For all of you thinking of Myrtle Beach Summer 2012.. I am currently looking into the possibility of opening a 100% Irish dedicated budget accommodation centre for J-1 Students. I have had first hand exp in the late 90,s as a student. I also witnessed the same difficulties Irish students have, during a spell in Myrtle Beach last summer. Deposits not being returned, Horrendous conditions, high rent and landlords who take advantage. This often puts a bad taste on the place for students when they leave. I am also hoping to put together a comprehensive guide to the Myrtle Beach, incl, jobs info, cost of living, transport, social scene etc..All I can say is that I had 2 great summers as a student and the place had the same buzz when i returned last year. 50 miles of beach...what can i say... send me a mail for more info.. conorkeane@hotmail.com
