Hey heading to SB this summer just kinda confused. keep reading mixed reviews about whether to live in isla Vista or not. i know the Irish have a bad name out there but is it still possible to live in isla vista?? also i heard people in the past stayed in frat houses. is this reccomended or wheres the best place to stay thanks
Hey, we were in SB last summer and stayed in the town but your probably better off staying in IV if you want to party! You'll have no probs finding a house there. Its not the most scenic of places but its where everyone stays and there are partys all the time. Only downside is you'll need to get the bus to work but theyre pretty regular.The Irish dont have a bad name there at all. They loved us!! Most people there hadnt heard of any problems before and there were no problems with getting accomodation or jobs.
does anyone know if it is possible to book accomadation in Del Playa before going out there and how to contact the leasers? also read before that for jobs people wouldnt usually wrk in waitressing jobs is this true or is it possible to get that kinda work?

I hope ur not so rude to any of the othher people on this forum, everyone seems so nice. Yes its true I have a weight problem but that doesnt change me as a human being and for ur information I got a J1 last year to Montaulk so I couldnt be that ugly. Montaulk is great I loved it....I stayyed in Bryers if ne1 wants ne info, even you Claire even though I know u dont like me.
they dont hate the irish in IV at all... look up craigslist and look for subleasing houses for the summer. Also the main leasing companies are wolfe&associates and BDC...u could try and email them. But lie and say theres only like 2 of you stayin there for the summer, We had 8 sharing a 2bedroom apt and rent was only 200dollars a month each. Easy to get accom in frat houses, but there complete dives! Try get a house as close to DP as possible, coz thats where everythins happenin! We got our accom when we got out there and stayed in SB hostel downtown for the first few weeks(book b4 u go - www.sbhostel.com) Accom doesnt usually become available til abt 3rd week in June when the students all go home for the summer, so book a hostel til then. Still u need to get there as early as possible and try and find accomodation in IV. Jobs, nobody had them before goin over. Everyone i know got a job in the end. And that was in 2005 when there was over a 1000 irish. Loadsa jobs in clothes shops in downtown SB, macys hire loads.Also loadsa restaurants too. Good luck!
im not headin to montauk either dave...we wer thinkin of goin bac to cali but now wer leanin towards boston!!! we just cant make a decision...we'll def b makin a return trip to vegas tho...dont care wat coast wer on haha we just love that place far too much..ps heard u wer home last week??? cabt believe i missed u..
