    Hi everyone.

Just wondering if anyone has any info on Waikiki/Honolulu/Oahu in general. Me and a friend are heading off may 26th for the summer. Ive heard nothing but good things so far from people i know who've been there.

I think getting a job is the biggest thing.... Is it true they won't hire you in a restaurant as a waiter if you aren't 21.... any way to get around it??

Any info on jobs/accom/things to do would be great.... sayit are useless for info.

I know on Maui they will hire waiters who are under 21, i cant see why Oahu would be any different.

    Hi Shane,
I spent last summer in Waikiki. We all had no problems finding jobs. In fact some of us had 2 jobs. Along the beach Coldstones Ice cream hired a good few Irish behind the counter and there's a few other places by the beach that were hiring. It's the peak season there so you should have no problem getting a half decent job. I tried for a wating job but had no luck, so the money we earned over the few months could have been better in that regards. But I don't think age was a factor with waiting jobs at all.
The fact that you're going out on the 26th will help as you'll be one of the first there, we found that anyway.
We were living at the foot of Diamond head (the big crater off Waikiki). If you're looking for a gaff that's the best area to go for, a bit expensive but we were lucky with ours so it's worth a look. We sorted it out on www.craigslist.com before hand and had no idea that it was the nicest part of the whole city.
Decent craic drinking around the beach at night, cops were sound to the Irish. Nightlife was only alright so we spent most night drinking around the pier and stuff. They're pretty strict on I.D so bring a few good fake ones over.
Went to Maui at the end of the summer last year, enjoyed it but there's a lot more going on in Oahu.
Like I said, there's plenty of jobs there. Hope this helps, if you want to know anything else I'l try and help.
