Mobile Phone use in the US is EXPENSIVE. Don't pay the rip off charges over there, get a MAXROAM sim before you go and get a US and Irish number in one. Call home for the price of a local call from your mobile!

Suppose things do not go as planned and I end up getting fired from my job. What are my options so I dont mess up my status? Any help would be needed as I am researching on the topic.

Here is a quote from the FAQ at www.J1online.ie:

    Q. Can I change my job while in the USA?
    A. YES but the only mandatory programme requirement is that you must inform USIT or CIEE by registering details of your new employment in SEVIS within 10 days of the change of employment.

So it looks like in most situations, you just need to get another job really fast!

At any rate, here is an enormous list of places to find a job:

That might be the biggest problem in finding a new job. Last time I had to find a new job I had to wait a full month before somebody called me back regarding an actual interview. Even then it wasn't a guarantee with landing the job. I still wish you GOOD LUCK!
