Booked my J1 today and am looking to go to Santa Monica in LA, doesn't seem to be a popular choice for J1ers (good thing or bad thing, not sure yet!) Any advice, or anyone else going there, let me know

Santa Monica is great but expensive. Depending on what you will be making it may be difficult for you to live there. You should count on rents being between 650 to 850 for a shared apartment(unfurnished). First months rents and a security deposit of the same amount are usually required and since you may not have built credit here yet it might even be more.
