Well. Lads considering Berkeley, from my experience if your working in San Francisco, for your sanity and wallet, don't stay in Berkeley. Berkeley is great for a night out (in Blakes or at one of the Frat Parties) but more so if your under 21. San Fran has more to offer in general; more clubs, Irish bars, frat house here too etc. and it's just better to stay here. It is expensive so be willing to pay a bit or sleep in a confined space with a rake o others, lol.
I myself have 2 jobs, both of which I had last year. I have 2 people arranged to share accomdation with in the city, and I have some leads from last year. I am looking for at most 2 more people (boys or girls, I don't discriminate, lol) to share with us. If you want to share and get the low down on San Fran and possibly a job where I'm working email me at davesquinn@yahoo.co.uk

Hey...if you go to the university of california, berkeleys webpage & navigate your way through it the list of accomodations available are on that webpage. I have provided a link to the site..although im nearly sure there was another site I went onto when i was thinking of san fran but I cant find it so you might come across it yourself...I heard that Berkeley is a good bit away from places where the jobs are..thats its very rare to get jobs in Berkeley itself...but Im not sure...Hope that helps.
Our student summer sublets are available to any summer visitor for a $20 fee. Evidence of UCB affiliation is not required. The service includes online access to listings for shared housing or vacant units that are available for a maximum of 3 months. You can also find a great deal of helpful information about Berkeley and the surrounding areas on our website.
Top 5 Summer Sublet Facts: 1.Most summer sublets are listed AFTER spring break, which for UC Berkeley this year is the last week in March. We see a big increase in sublet listings in April and even May.
2.Most summer sublets are for a full two or three months, usually beginning sometime around mid-May to June 1 and ending in late July or by mid-August. You may wish to plan your visit accordingly or try to negotiate with the lister for a shorter term if you need it.
3.It is UP TO YOU to negotiate the terms and conditions of your sublet with the listers. The sublet listings will include either a telephone number, which will usually be in the 510 area code unless otherwise noted, and/or an e-mail address, or possibly (but more rarely) open house information, which would require you to be nearby in order to participate in the open house.
4.Rent may be negotiable. If your offer is turned down, ask the lister to keep your name and number in the event he or she changes his mind.
5.Sometimes care of pets or plants care is involved.
To obtain access to the Student Summer Sublet listings, please do the following: •Click on “Find Rental Housing”
•Select “Register Online” and then on “Newcomer/Affiliate Student”,
•Complete and submit the online form (be sure to make note of the User ID that will be assigned to you)
•Send an email to homeinfo@berkeley.edu with subject line of “Student Summer Sublet Request” and include the following information in the body:
◦Your name
◦Your approximate arrival date
We will send you a link to our web payment system where you can pay your fee online and start searching for a rental. For more information about summer housing options and tips for finding a place, please see summer services for students.

I spent last summer in SF and loved every minute of it. So much so, I'm going back next year with a friend. As you may have heard, SF can be pretty expensive for accomodation, so if anyone is interested in sharing accomodation June and July get in touch at naiddelaney@hotmail.com . We'll be going travelling in August probably.
Hey, hows things? I'm thinking of heading over to San Fran too with a couple of mates (all male), wouldn't mind sharing accomadation with a couple of people at all? Not 100% on San Fran but it does seem veeeeeery likely that we will be there for the summer. Do you know how to go about booking accom etc KC91?
Honestly got no idea. Been searching Craigslist and some apartment rental sites but everything right now is too expensive to pursue as there is only three of us!
We're 100% going to San Fran and looking to share a house near the city so we are close to bars and clubs and all the cafe's so we can go out easily and also are close to possible jobs! Anyway, email me at noneforgretchen@hotmail.com if you want to chat more about possibly living together over there for 2 months...
Hey, me and one other girl are going to San Fran this summer looking to share accomodation for June and July, we will more then likely go travelling for august! If anyone is interested in sharing with us email me at k00107183@student.lit.ie, Thanks
Planning on going to San Fran this summer, there should be 3 or 4 us anyway. Only problem is some of us cant go until probably around the 24th of June..and i dont really want to head out on my own. Is that WAY to late to get jobs/accom etc??? Be great to get a bit of advice on this from anyone who hase been to san fran before or just knows...so far it seems it would be a bit late..but surely there would be something left!?? Or do you know of anywhere else that would be good to go to, with more chance of finding work at a later date??
Hi! I am a french student, looking for an accomodation to share with local students in San Francisco, from March to September 2011. Any idea? Does anyone know how to contact the universities and the students from UCSF, SFSU, USFCA,...? Thanks a lot in advance!
Amy, first of all don't worry about not everyone going out straight away - if you jump into it and stay in touch with people on here you'll get settled in no time and won't be on your own for long! LAte in June they might have some trouble finding jobs for all of them if its a big group, but if its only 3 or 4 and they're really persistent and take what's going then they should be fine getting jobs. obviously the best jobs are the first to go, but they could even try shops and places downtown, which would hire just as much as the touristy thing often enough.
hey ppl im heading out to sf first of june and was looking to see if any1 is looking for ppl to share with... im doing the j1 alone and im really nervous bout the whole experience, if any1 could contact me i would really appreciate it tara

Hey, I'm a guy from Slovenia, wishing to secure a job in San Francisco and of course a cheap place to live. Do you have any recommendations where to look for a job. I'd like to have something now so I can start working as soon as I get there. I'm planning to go there in the end of May (and till September). My email is: dgajsek[at]gmail.com.

Hey, i'm heading to SF for work from about June to September haven't got my exact dates yet, i'm going alone and to be honest i'm pretty nervous about it..i've never been to the states. Any body mind apartment sharing? Any accommodation that's affordable will do if its on a bus route :P Cheers hope to hear from yas.
Hey, I'm heading to San Francisco for the summer alone and I'm looking for people to share with for June, July and August. I'm not sure yet whether to stay in Berkley or closer to the city. I'm not fussy about being in a crammed apartment, the cheaper, the better. Anyway if you've got a group and are looking for more people to share, let me know or if you haven't got anything sorted, maybe we can get a group together. Email me at dave.omeara91@gmail.com if you're interested.
No, as soon as I find something to work, I will focus on finding an apartment. Do you have any advice where to start looking/asking for work? Email me at: dgajsek[at]gmail.com
