myself and a few friends are off 2 san diego the 11th of june and since there is so much negative chat about not getting jobs and accommodation we thought we would start looking straight away. ive been looking for the last few days mostly for accommodation, and am finding it hard to even get a contact name or email address to get in touch with someone. anyone have any help they could send this way it would be great.......

You guys will be VERY luck to get accommodation before you get over there. It will be tough enough when you are there.

Your best bet is to make friends in the hostel on day 1 (be over nice) and sort something that way.

Word of advice, start looking the DAY you get there. 3 weeks in a hostel is too long.

I was looking at accom on craigslist and those other sites that usit advise, absolutely impossible to get a house over there, at least while your sitting at a computer in Ireland. I've heard they hate irish over there, so I reckon and contact made with a landlord from an Irish person they never met will be ignored.

I'd say your best bet of securing accom is to head over, ring everywhere that is for rent, meet the landlady/lord, and basically try convince them that your not like "the rest of the irish".

Seems unfair that we have such a bad name there, but its up to us to disprove it and get decent houses.

I was in SD last year. Theres an area called Clairemont bout 15mins on a bus from PB inland. Half the Irish stayed there and half in PB last year. Go to Irish Outreach when u arrive and theyll sort u out with a place in clairemont no problem.. I was there last year bout 200 Irish in the same apt complex with a full length outdoor pool and jacuzzi that u could drink in.. Twas mad, all day sessions by the pool - great times... Alot of people actually moved from PB to clairemont and said it was better because of all the ppl in the same complex with the pool.. Coral Bay and The Summit - Check them out, rent was only aruond 1800 month and they dont care about how many people share.
