   We are hope to travel across america. We hope to buy a cheap car or conversion van. Dose anyone know about insurance in america. Or if it is needed? Can it be got for a few months?

   you need to get a international licence off http://www.aaireland.ie/travel-insuranceone/idp.asp cost you 5-10euro
   Its hard to hire a car if ur not 21 but if u buy a car and get insured on it your sorted you can get insured and i presume you can get it for how many days u want.
   I know lads who bought a car and only one got insured and they all rotated...

   if you bring over your irish driving licence can you get a californian one from the dmv? instead if the international driving licence.

   Never heard about that so couldnt say but i doubt it..its just as easy to get a international licence as ur garenteed no hassle...

   Everyone over here is going to the web for auto insurance quotes any way .. So you guys could go there and give them US info and see what the price is?
