im hittin hawaii i think... nothin booked just yet tho, wanted to get loads of info first an im pretty sure im goin now, it seems amazzzzzin! wanna go to waikiki beach as a base and then travel among the islands if i have the mula. yeah i know the feelin im 22 and im only in 3rd year cause i switched courses! alot of my mates have degree shows in june(we'er in art college)so they cant go. anyone who wants any info on hawaii i have a good bit from other people :)
I'm flying out to San Fran from Cork on June 2nd on my own! Lookin for people to share with or even to hang out with some time out there. Think my job is sorted through some family contacts out there but other than that I'm on my own! Can't wait :) Nearly finished paying it off (xmas and bday were only a week apart so got the bulk paid off thank god). Anyone heading to SF? Anyone have any hints about accomm in SF? I think the cheapest would be to take over a students lease while they go home for the summer from UC Berkeley or SFSU..

i'm going solo as well. I'd like to go to west coast (Huntington Beach, Santa Barbara...) or Myrtle beach on the east coast. I actually haven't found a job yet, but need to find it before deparature otherwise i won't get visa...do you guys have any advice or contacts? I wanna go there around 10th June. sharing accomodation would be great...let's make this summer unforgettable :o)

I was in SF last sumer and will be moving back in march for a year on the 12 month visa. i am currently doing a blog with all the details on what you need to know about the J1 gig and more importantly SF. i will add to it quite often. each post will be about a new topic you need to enjoy SF and get the best out of the city

Hey SAN Fran~ers!! Myself and 4 or 5 other girls headin over to San Fran this summer. Any one know about accommodation? Are we better to get something in the city or the Frat houses in Berkley? We'd be up for sharing with other j1ers too... We're all 20 too so thinking it might be easier to party in Berkely, it's fairly strict on I.D in the city apparently. USIT are trying to discourage us from going to San Fran saying people always find it difficult 2 get jobs there... Any one know if it is???
Hi guys! K, so to answer as many questions as possible. I'm 19, headin to San Fran on the 2nd of June outta Cork. I'm looking into stayin in the frat houses in Berkely for the summer. THere's a massive housing shortage in San Fran itself so rent is huge, but the frat houses seem pretty reasonable.. I got in touch with the greeks assoc. over there and the details of renting rooms in the frat houses will be on calgreeks.com in february/march. They take applications in april as far as i know.. As for jobs, look at fisherman's wharf especially, there's hundreds of shops and restaurants, and an aquarium there so there should be some work around there for the summer. Berkeley is also a few degrees warmer than San fran cos it's more inland... san fran peaks around 21 degrees during the summer.. I have a list of places that let people under 21 in too, without drinking.. This famous comedy club called Cobb's comedy club is 18+ and so is a club in Berkeley called Blake's. I'm not looking to actively share with anyone(I might be heading off to do some travelling at the end of the summer so don't wanna be too tied down), but in the frat houses you are always sharing with irish and american people so I'll prob meet some of ye over there! technicolour-girl, don't worry bout going solo, there's a massive irish community over there and we'll be around! Also, this forum doesn't close when you get there, so it's easy to use here to find people for parties, road trips, etc! I've never been to the states, only Canada, so I'm really really excited!

We are heading over late may if you want to try with us for somewhere ? We have some places already sused out but they are expensive, but if a whole bunch of us share we could get a good place with cost split down to minimum for a big group. We over 21 so id not a problem but house parties are the way to go anyway.......work is gonna be tough but reckon not as hard as it is made out to be.....mail me back if you have an interest anway !!

we aint picked dates yet but will fly outta cork for sure.....hoping for end of may, beat the rush on jobs in june, went on J1 before and we got jobs in may no bother but like as soon as june came so did all the other irish and jobs dried up, so we beat the posse if we go early ( hopefully lol )
Oh right. Well I dunno when my exams are and the cheapest flights i could get were the 2nd o June so I went with them. Oh my god, I can't wait :) I know it's months away but I just wanna go now like
If you in UCC the exams should be finished by 3rd week of may, unless you do elec eng, which always go on till the end, The 4th week is when we hope to go but we did put down start of june on the form to be safe, just in case :P So there is a chance we could end up flying same day lol.....just 4 months now !!!!!
I know, can't wait! No, I'm in CIT doing multimedia, so most of our stuff is practical things over the semester but we have two exams and there's a possibility they could be the very end of may! It's so annoying like! Why can't they just tell us now! Well if we do end up flyin out together that's one way to make the ten hour flight entertainin! :)

Well Guys. Yes back to San Fran (Frisco) for me again this summer. Had some time last year, although its looking like I will be going alone this year. I would love to meet up with some people to share accomdation with also. I will be looking to stay in the city though, tried the whole berkeley thing last year and it got old after a month, especially when you are commuting to the city to work (dear and time wasting). Not only that but I may be able to get you a job! I worked in 2 places last year Abercrombie and Fitch and Ben n Jerrys. Im heading over 26th May and cannot wait. I was going on my own too.. Been talking to a couple of people and now I'm going with Laura aka Rockersbaby, and two other guys... It's all about Hawaii! It'll be so much fun!!! Also add me on facebook if you wana chat about it if anyone is still unsure, however alot of the J1 agencies are making last bookings by tuesday so this weekend is pretty crucial in getting a good bit done! It's all really straight forward, I've never done this before but it has been real handy so far!

hey carriecork, corkboi and others... We've actually decided against the whole Berkeley thing, wanna get the true San Fran experience in the city itself and kinda bored of the student buzz. We're heading out on the 1st June and will prob be getting an apartment in the city. Anyone know good sights 2 look out for short term lettings? So can't wait to go now.... Hope it's not gonna be too hard 2 get jobs....:)
