Hey guys, 2 girls (both 20) heading to NY in late May til end of August. Looking for a room in a house with easy-going, fun people up for the craic! No idea where to stay...as close to Manhattan as possible??
Hey guys, thanks for commenting back! :) I'm heading the 29th May - eeek! Exciting all the same though, I just want college to be over now!! When's everyone else heading over?? Would love to have people to share accomodation with :) I too am easy-going and looking for other peoples the same :) Has anyone had any luck with accomodation or jobs yet?
hey muddy im leavin the same day.. we are probably on the same flight lol. iv sent a few mails to people bout accommodation but no luck yet :(. startin sendin out cv's this week so hopefully il have better luck with that. i no if i could leave in the mornin i'd be gone in a shot.... it's the only thing gettin me through college at the moment haha :p.
That's cool, we won't be loners on the plane so! Lol, havn't had luck with accomodation or jobs so far but I havn't really done much research yet to be honest...planning on looking through craigslist this weekend and will send out cvs and stuff too :) Actually some employers from Long Island came to my University (Limerick) and had an interview with them but won't know til next week...also, they only offer like 30 places and have no doubt interviewd hundreds so chances are slim!! We'll see though...So are you flying from Dublin then? Where were ya thinking about going to in New York?
yup i am indeed. dont have flight times or anything yet but i presume we'd be booked in for the same flight. ha suppose its one good thing :). hate the awkwardness of bein alone on a plane. oh im down in WIT... havent heard of any talks gone on down here. ah hope ya get something now. that'd be great. you'd only have to worry bout a job then :p. im lookin up a few things now actually... was thinkin the manhattan area would be the best. bit expensive but least your kinda near everything. Queens would be the second choice if it came down to it. how bout you? dya have any preference??
I was gona head towards long island...wna be nearer to the beach!! And supposedly the city is unbearably hot during the summer months...so Long Beach or Atlantic Beach are looking good! I dno though, nothing's set in stone yet I suppose. We should get a group going of people who are goin solo!! Lol, actually can't believe how many people are goin on their own, it's comforting to know! :) Anyways, if I've any luck with accomodation and stuff I'll let ya know!
yea myslef catsy and ciara are meetin in dublin the end of the month if ya fancy meetin up too. our facebook links are above aswell so you know we'r not crazy lunatics tryin to lure people in lol.... but yea il keep ya posted on my results aswell. hopefully il start findin some bigger places!!! fingers crossed :)
malone8..we were told to go to woodlawn in the bronx?! would be up for organising it before we go but kinda depends on where jobs would be? u's looking jobs?
Hey...just to let you know, forget about manhattan way too expensive unless you wana be packed into a place and have no comfort... go to Woodside in Queens, you are 15minutes away from the heart of the city by subway on number 7. Spent a bit of summer over there last year, woodside has quiet alot of Irish mixed nationalities really but main thing is its safe!!!!! you wont be staying in some fab apartment like but its the convenience of it for nights out etc etc.... i was lucky had my cuz living their so it was handy for me..

heya guys yeah woodlawn sounds like the place to be i'll keep a lookout on craigslist. my friend is out there at the moment so she's going to put my c v's out to a few places she no's closer to the time but all sounds good. :) :) yeah a beach seems like a good idea.

I should be out there from late May and am looking for peeps to share accomodation. Im a girl by the way. Brooklyn is kool and so is Queens. If u get a good group size u could find decent rent in Manhatten.
I went last summer, found a place in Manhattan, Upper East Side it was pretty pricey though, we ended up spending the last three weeks in Boston with other college mates. If you can get into Manhattan though, it is well worth it, you're a stone's throw from everything. We could walk to Central Park, and Midtown was only a half an hour walked if we felt like it.

There is myself and 4 of my other hot lady friends heading over June 1st until the end of August! leaving from dublin via heathrow bla bla, prob same with most of ye!! were in the middle of trying to sort accommodation! we've been in touch with a lady about a really great place in madison avenue, with pool, gym etc(YES WOW)!!and its for a gud price too!! we want the rent to be reeeeeaaaaly cheap so get in touch with me if you're up for living with us! few matresses thrown down, we'll all have a ball :) it will be party central by that pool im thinking ;) we're all easy going girls up for the laugh!

Hello all! Have just paid my balance for NY this summer so it's actually setting in that i'm going. Will be flying solo on the first of june, but luckily my sister lives in brooklyn so i'll have somewhere to stay until i find my feet. She also said she'd give me some work to keep me going while i'm settling in! I'm from Tipperary, but i'm in the art college in limerick.
