    Hey,

I am heading for the J1 this year on my own, havn't decided where I am going just yet. Have been looking around for different jobs on different websites and have gotten a few replies. Is it usual to get a job before getting to America, or is it easier to go there and try to find something local?

    Thanks,
    Andy

    I emailed you a response M,

I have an interview with a place next week over skype. Was just wondering what is the norm for getting a job. Do places usually hold out for closer to the summer or try fill the spots early?

I have the same job-finding problem. Any ideas, how to search? I've done it for days, but nothing comes up.
    Thank you.

i got a job for mid august to end of september. I have no college to come back to so nice to be sorted after the summer season. It seems like most of the retail and restaurant jobs will come up around May so I am not getting to worried right now. Craigslist is good spot to look, can take a bit to get used to its layout cause there is so much info on the screen but its handy and used a lot. I was on j1jobs.com but have heard that they are not reliable, have barely heard back from any of the jobs I have applied for on this. It depends on what you are looking for, applying directly to the company is another option.

i have gotten a few responses from craigslist.com. its a bit awkward to navigate it at first but when ya get the hang of it its good and popular. have interviews with a shop and a golf club when i go over. just pick the place u wanna go to, then pick jobs and put in seasonal or summer into the filter. will end up with page like this; this is for boston - http://boston.craigslist.org/search/jjj?query=seasonal&catAbbreviation=jjj . im not getting to freaked bout jobs yet cause it seems that the seasonal jobs dont appear until april or so on so dont be getting to worried if ya have nothing yet.
