I would have to say mine would have to be how so many people can be so blind to anothers culture. I am not saying everyone has the same opinion, but I would have to guess it is normal for anyone in any country to be sort of stereotypical of a foreigner.

Have any of you experienced this also???

Well when I go traveling people always say that I say 'uuuughhh' a lot. I can not help it because my mind is trying to decode the different languages from my languages meaning. This has been the biggest boundry for me. :(

Mine is explaining the different cultural views of certain things. Sometimes my talking makes people say what does that mean or your accent sounds really weird. I just try my best to explain everything.

I personally alwys feel mortified when I can't tell what someone is saying in another language. Even thick accents give me trouble, so it seems like I'm always making a fool of myself!

I speak Japanese and English, so you would think that it would make it easier for me! I was at resteraunt the other day and the Chinese hostess was very gracious in asking me if I had ny daughters. I thought she was saying 'dollars',a nd it took me, like 5 times asking her what she said to finally understand. She was trying so hard to be nice!

I am very gratefult hat she was patient with me! I think that the language barrier always poses the first awkward moments!

I know what you exactly mean and that is why I always try to bring a paper and pen with me. It seems kind of weird to me to be able to communicate better by writing instead of speaking.
Speaking the language is really hard with many tones to master, one pronunciation mistake and it can mean a whole different thing.
