    Hi!

I am hoping to travel to Chicago or Milwaukee on a J1 visa, but i am having trouble finding a Job, i keep reading people say that they will find a job there, or that they dont need a job before they go. I am from the UK, and when i have looked into applying i am told i NEED to have a job offer before i can get my visa. Can anyone advise me on this? how do i go without a job offer? How did i get a job offer? Anyone know about getting a Bartenders Licence for WI?

I don't think you need to have a job secured before you go but it would be adviseable obviously, try sites like j1jobs.com, craigslist and snagajob.com for work

It depends. On the Irish J1 visa, a company in the US called CIEE sponsors Irish students. The english equivelant of USIT or SAYIT should have one of these too. In the case of Irish J1 visas, CIEE steps into the roll of job offer, sponsoring your visa and essentially stepping in as responsible for you. You need to find out if any student travel specialists in the UK have a company like this. It's very late for applying though.
