Great choice with Allston, this is by far the best place you can live in Boston if you are young and looking to party. I spent the summer of 2007 there and met so many great American friends and had the best parties. Its a really hip neighbourhood with lots of cool bars, tattoo shops, music venues, restaurants etc. And yes very few Irish :) Most of the the muck savages and GA heads go live in the Irish village of Brighton where they jump around to Bon Jovi and try score nursing students from Galway. Allston's definitely the happening spot!
I lived on Chester street which was a really nice neighbourhood. If you are with a good few people ye should try and get a big house. These are huge timber frame houses with stoops and they would be great to live in as you could fit loads of people in there. We sub-letted an apartment from a girl going to BU which is very close to Allston. Thats why this place is booming as it is basically a student village for thousands of Boston students. Unfortunately many of them leave for summer so in actual fact the place is hopping far more in the winter time but there are still plenty of people about in summer and the place still has a great atmosphere. I worked in the city on the harbour which was only about half an hour away on the T. Allston's in a great area and not far at all from city centre. Its a small enough area so won't take you long to become very familiar with it.

We in allston now.. found a place jst off com ave.. we full now but there are place avilable.. We had alot of trouble b4 we got a 3 month lease..landlord had a huge problem mwit it nd thought we wud wreck de place.. we needed a co signer !! but he offered us a landscpin job so we sorted now ..keep lookin !!
